College Students Career Enhancement
eLearning under Skilling Program for Government Girls College in Gurgaon
Summary
The project was a joint effort of Haryana Government, the Foundation and RuralShores Skills Academy to empower girls coming from rural areas to the college. There were about 7,000 girls in the Government College in Gurgaon. The skilling program involved selection and training of girls who were typically in final year of college. RSA helped them choose courses that align with what they were studying in college. This will make them better employable with online training when they pass out college. We suggested the students of B.Com the courses related to banking, e-finance, economics, market research, etc. For students from Arts background, we recommended teaching and administrative courses. For the girls who were not even familiar with the computers, RSA assisted them to be digital literate. For the girls who were not even aware of a career option fit for them, RSA helped them find the right career path to a bright future through structured counselling. The online training covered videos, assessments, and reading material organized by RSA.
Conclusion
The State Government and Foundation’s Vision and Mission were achieved in association with RuralShores Skills Academy. RSA provided trainers and managers to drive the resource center and manage the right training by girls. The strength of the program was life skills training incorporating grooming andEnglish communication integrated in the online training curriculum.
